How a plant review runs
A plain-language map of the flagship internal controls engagement—so production and finance know what to expect before we arrive.
This page is for operations and finance leads who have already decided they need a controls look, but want to know how many days we spend on the floor, who we interrupt, and what shows up in the final memorandum.

Scoping call
We confirm legal entities, plant addresses, ERP or ledger modules, known pain points, and the external deadline—bank, board, or auditor. You leave with a written scope draft and an indicative fee band.

Document pull
Before arrival we request organization charts, approval matrices, recent cycle-count results, scrap logs, and access instructions. Incomplete packs delay fieldwork; we say so early rather than discovering gaps on day one.

Floor walkthroughs
Receiving, warehouse, production planning, and the production office come first. We follow material issues and scrap while shifts run, then sit with finance to trace the same movements into the books.

Sample testing
Vouchers, counts, journal entries, and overtime approvals are sampled from agreed populations. You see the selection method; we do not hide behind opaque “risk models.”

Findings discussion
Draft points are walked through with process owners. Factual corrections happen here so the final memo does not surprise the people who must fix the issues.

Memorandum delivery
You receive a ranked findings list, sample summaries, and remediation owners with suggested timing. Optional follow-up days can re-test closed items after you have had time to remediate.
What we need from the plant
- A named escort for warehouse and production areas
- Read access to inventory, AP, and payroll modules in scope
- A quiet desk near the production office
- Shift supervisors briefed that questions are normal, not a blame hunt
What we avoid
- Unannounced “mystery shopper” behavior that alarms the floor
- Expanding into tax opinion work mid-engagement
- Delivering only a slide deck with no sample support
- Blocking production for ceremonial full-plant freezes unless you request one
